Country South SA Medicare Local is a regionally based, not for profit primary health care organisation dedicated to improving health for our local communities.
Medicare Locals were established to coordinate and deliver important health services including after-hours GP services, immunisation, mental health support, eHealth and telehealth as well as targeted and tailored services for those in need.
Primary Health Networks (PHNs) will replace Medicare Locals from 1 July 2015. Country South SA Medicare Local (CSSAML) has made a conscious decision not to tender to form a new PHN for Country South Australia.
As such, the Department of Health has advised that CSSAML’s funding and core functions will cease as of 30 June 2015.
We are working to ensure that services remain as uninterrupted as possible during the transition to the new PHN.
We are assisting those submitting a tender to ensure that the foundation work and research CSSAML has undertaken in the region will be acknowledged and adopted by a new PHN to ensure the primary health needs of those living within our region are met now, and in the future.
We have developed a Legacy Document. This contains further information and extended discussion on areas of importance; culminating in some key legacy statements.
We held a PHN Brief for stakeholders involved in the tender process. Information from the PHN Brief, including video of the presentation and links to download all referenced documents, is available here.
